An Inconvenient Truth
I saw this film last night and I wanted to comment on it. i think it's a real shame if anyone gets caught up in political overtones because that is exactly why we have such a problem. I've been raving about this problem for a long time - but I'm so happy that I saw the film because it made me realize again just how serious this is. This is new territory - there is really nothing more important than this problem. I DO NOT think these facts are blown out of proportion - i think they’re just so Mind-Blowing that no one wants to accept them.
If what we need is a unifying factor in the world then this is it - this is a new kind of war - a war that we’re fighting against ourselves and each other. In my opinion, anyone who cannot accept this reality might as well dig their head in the sand and hope they survive. The polar ice caps are melting - the sun is getting hotter - the storms are getting stronger - the droughts are more extreme - 2005 was the hottest year in recorded history. the 10 hottest years in history have occurred within the last 14 years. Ocean temperatures are rising, wind patterns are changing, animals are migrating. new york was warm in january, cold in may, and nothing but rain in June - Minneapolis has no winter - the list goes on and on - and I’m sure you have your own stories about it. We are having an Effect - there are consequences to our actions - we are Better than this.
What is now a shame will soon be a crime - because there is no time left. our carbon dioxide levels are off the charts (from millions of years of history) - we are literally going to cause another ice age. If we think we are smart or powerful or even capable of taking care of ourselves - it’s time to wake up to the fact that we are on a collision course. Dealing with this problem is our job. It’s time to grow up and become responsible for our own actions. I will do everything I can so please feel free to contact me about this subject ~ Molly
