Learning to Resist the Energizer Bunny . . .

One reason that I stopped focusing on my jewelry so much (beyond the fact that I need to do my music career) is that I could never quite keep up with or feel right about the merry-go-round I call the fashion industry. I love it because it always changes and truly is a mirror – a reflection of what people everywhere are thinking, feeling and needing - but I used to feel this constant pressure to create a new collection with each season.

Lately, I’ve been finding a new perspective which leads me to believe that maybe it’s more interesting – organic – and real if fashion designers create collections as they are feeling inspired to create them . . . . instead of always needing a new thing every 6 months. Maybe you do more than that . . . maybe you do less – but it’s a lot like making music/records . . . very hard to measure.

We all want priceless objects that last – connections that help us represent who we really are – and that can’t be delivered on a direct timeline like a piece of fast food. This is art we are talking about – universal communication on a subconscious level. The shapes and forms that speak to us . . . . the patterns we need to create . . . . the nature of inspired creation . . . . these are the wild beasts we both love and fear.

I’m getting ready to release some new jewelry soon and I’m really excited about it because it comes out of a respect for this new organic model . . . all of my creations have stories . . . feelings and emotions . . . . good reasons for their existence . . . . somehow they feel new and relevant.
